Summer Survival #1 ~ Tips for Maintaining Mom’s Sanity

This year, I think one of the most important things that will make a difference is the fact that I am thinking about and starting to plan for summer vacation, I will be ready for it! Usually it sneaks up on me, I am caught off guard and do not have a plan; and that, I have found, is a recipe for disaster.

I have come up with a packet of tips and tools that I plan to use this summer and that I think other busy mom’s will appreciate also!

~ Tips & tools for keeping your kids and house in order during the summer months!

Tip 1: Set Your Priorities

What are your priorities this summer?  I have had to do some re-evaluating in this category myself. My #1 priority this summer is the kids, which means that everything else comes second. I realize that I will not be able to accomplish all of the projects I would like to this summer; I am just not going to have the time to work as much as I would like.

Tip 2: Make a Plan for Mom

Write down all of your goals for the summer, all of the things that you would like to accomplish personally, financially, for the household, for work or projects and with the kids. Oh, and be reasonable:) It’s very easy to load up that list of things you would like to do, but be honest with yourself. What do you think you will actually be able to accomplish?

For example, if you work from home, it will be an adjustment to have some extra kids around during the day. Maybe you are accustomed to having 1 or 2 kids during the day, like me, and now you will have 2-6!

Keep it simple this summer and enjoy the kids because they won’t be kids forever!

There is a template for Mom’s Goals included in the Busy Mom’s Guide to Summer Survival.

Thank you so much! I have been surfing the internet for weeks trying to find tips & sheets to put together a household organizer (planner, journal). I came upon your website while surfing and I have to say I love it! I wish there was more variety as far as how to make a household organizer, the sections it should have and some more printables to go alnog with it but I have really enjoyed reading all the things you have on the site. I am a work at home mom with 4 kids and I just want to get my house organized and keep the house going & CLEAN without slaving everyday and feeling like there is just not enough time in the day! I ordered your book “A Busys Mom’s Guide to Summer Survival” and I can not wait to get it! Thank you for having this site for women like me :)

  2. Thank you Samantha for your wonderful comments! I totally understand the feelings of being a work at home mom and trying to keep everything together and running smoothly! That is exactly how this website came about:)

Oh my GOSH Samantha I totally understand! I have a 10 year old a 3 year old and 2 year old! the youngest 2 are boys and the oldest is a girl and my house seems to look like a tornado hit it 5 minutes after cleaning it. LOL! I love my little brats :) I am also a work at home mom. Over here in Oregon the jobs are slim.. I took a visit over to the local employment office and it had a line clear out the door. College is going to be my next step. REALLY EXCITED! :)
