Would you like to “jump start” your metabolism and lose your ‘mommy belly’ once and for all? If so, the following seven tips are exactly what you need to improve your workouts and ignite your metabolism. Try some or all of these tips, but beware, the result may be a number of admiring second glances and the need to pull your ‘skinny jeans’ out of the closet.
1. The majority of your workouts should be composed of free-weight, bodyweight or cable exercises.

Here is one way to teach your older kids about real life budgeting. If money is tight in your household right now, this will be especially helpful in showing your kids how to create and follow a budget. Sometimes it’s hard for kids to understand that we only have so much money to spend and why they can’t have the most expensive items on the shelf, by doing the shopping themselves they will surely get the idea!
Let your kiddos create their very own back to school budget, they can be in charge of listing their supplies and proposed prices and will have to make any necessary changes to stay within their budget.
Then they can do the actual purchasing, record actual prices and calculate the remaining balance.

Your garage sale sign can make or break your sale. If you have fabulously flashy signs, people just can’t resist, they’ll head right on over to your sale!
A few things to keep in mind when you are making your garage sale signs:
- Bigger is Better
- Bright Colors are more noticeable
- Bold Black Lettering is easiest to read
- Big Arrows to point the way
- Adding Details like the distance, address, dates, headline or items always helps (if you have the room)
- Fabulously Fun & Flashy signs are irresistible
Here are a couple of great signs that I have seen on my garage sale-ing adventures:
Found in Frederic, WI - Fun & Artistic

I just read a great article entitled “Back to School Shopping Shouldn’t Leave You Broke” at www.Crosswalk.com, written by Tawra Kellam from www.LivingOnADime.com.
So true, we should not have to bust the budget or bank just to get the kids back in school! Tawra shares some excellent money saving tips:
- Wait for the list to come out and stick to it, otherwise you might buy things you don’t need. Remember, the Bank of Mom doesn’t pay for frills. Any extras the kids want will have to be funded from their own cash reserves. I do understand that it is nice for kids to have “hip” back-to-school supplies. I look at yard sales and thrift stores for brand-name finds. For instance, I recently found a gently used Barbie backpack and a Barbie lunch box, and no one would know that I paid $1.00 each instead of the $32 that Becky Johnson’s mom paid. Who says stay at home mom’s don’t make any money?

Clothing our kids these days can get to be a pretty expensive task! You can easily spend your whole month’s grocery budget on a couple of stylish outfits! I’m not saying that I have done this and I hope you have not either, but when money is tight you have to be creative.
Stocking up on clothing throughout the year is a great way to spread out the cost and you will also be able to find some fabulous deals!
My favorite ways to get great prices on kids clothes is shopping the End of Season Clearance Sales, eBay and Garage Sales!
