Are you ready for summer vacation? 3 months with the kids…oh heaven! Well, not quite, especially if you are a stay at home, work at home or part time at home mom with a bunch of kiddos!
I am a work at home mom and I also watch my sister’s kids a few days a week, so this summer I will have 6 kids, ages 3-13. I can honestly say it gets a little crazy around here!
Here are the problems that I face every summer:
- the house is a disaster
- the kids are getting into everything
- the kids are hyper and restless
- I don’t have enough time to do my work
- I am totally stressed out & crabby
I have been telling my daughter for the last 2 summers that we would paint her bedroom, but I just get to busy. My poor husband gets lost in the shuffle; thank God he’s so wonderful and understanding! I never have time to do anything fun because I am always finishing up one work project and rushing on to the next.
This summer vacation is going to be different!
After some soul searching and evaluating my priorities, I have once again re-discovered my reason for being a stay at home parent…the kids! After you have been a stay at home parent for a while (6 years for me), it’s easy to lose sight of that longing desire you had to be a stay at home parent.
As a work at home mom, it’s very difficult to find a balance between work and home.
I usually work in the early morning before the kids get up, a couple of hours in the later morning while the kids are playing, during afternoon rest time and after the kids go to bed. (Some days I wish I could go to the office:) I know that will not be possible this summer.
So, in order for us to have a fun filled and stress-free summer…
I am making a commitment to cut back on work and spend more quality time with the kids.
This will be just as much for my sanity as for the kids’ well being!
